KWEKWE United coach Prince Matore is determined to close the year with another historic achievement by winning the inaugural Champions of Champions competition, set to take place in Gweru this weekend.

The tournament will be held at Bata Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

The promoted teams to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) โ€” Scottland FC, Kwekwe United, ZPC Hwange, and Triangle United will clash in the maiden competition.

Matore and his Kwekwe United charges made history by becoming the first team from the City of Gold to compete in the top-flight league since Lancashire Steel in 2009.

They now aim to add to that historic feat with another piece of silverware before the year ends.

The Champions of Champions competition presents them with the opportunity to put the year to an end in style.

โ€œThis will be a meeting of regional champions, and we want to be the champions and rule everyone. We are fully focused on winning the knock-out competition. We know it wonโ€™t be easy, but we are confident in our abilities and are looking forward to the challenge,โ€ said Matore.

Matore urged Kwekwe United fans to come out and support the team over the weekend.

โ€œWe will need their energy and enthusiasm to drive us on and help us achieve our goal. We are all excited about the prospect of winning the competition, and we hope that our fans will be able to join us in celebrating what we hope will be a successful weekend,โ€ said Matore.

In the first semi-final, Central Region Kwekwe United will face Eastern Region champions Triangle United, while Northern Region champions Scotland FC will take on ZPC Hwange in the second semi-final. The competition promises to be highly exciting given these are Champions from the four regions in the country.
