He is a genius in spitting verses that use poetic shots of expressions, forming a compelling narrative which is pregnant with real-life issues that are established through rhyming patterns, and that makes Thaluso Da Poet a rare gem among his crop of talent.
The 24-year-old wordsmith successfully launched his first full-length poetry album titled UMusa KaThixo on 21 February at the YWCA, in line with the National Youth Day celebrations.
Award-winning poet Desire “Moyoxide’ Moyo also made a surprise performance at the launch which was officiated by Bulawayo City Mayor Councillor Solomon Mguni, with some notable faces in attendance including the legendary Jeys Marabini and Black Umfolosi front-man Sotja Moyo.
The Gwanda-bred poet’s album consists of 10 tracks that include uMusa ka Thixo which was penned based on real-life challenges that we face every day.
When one conquers the obstacles, they sometimes think they are clever or intelligent for overcoming the curse while in reality it will be God ‘s Grace (uMusa KaThixo) that saved them.
The second ballad is Sondela Sthandwa which is a love poem. Idlozi Lisebenza Kanjani? is a rhetorical traditional poem that questions how ancestors work in the lives of their folks.
Mntanami Ngyakuzala, encourages young people to take care of themselves and an extra care of their parents for their blessings come from them. It also discourages drug abuse.
The poem Bulawayo speaks about how the Bulawayo townships were named. Another exciting poem titled Africa a Virgin Girl, is pregnant with flattery on the beauty of the African continent.
Other poems which made it to the album are I Have Become a Seventh Priority, Umhlaba Lento Zawo featuring Mjabulisi, Chief Vezi Maduna a tribute to the late Godlwayo Chief as well as Father Zimbabwe featuring Moyoxide, a tribute to the late Vice-President of the country Joshua Nkomo.
Apart from poetry, Thaluso Da Poet is an electrician. He is working on a branding and design company.
