Fans commemorate year anniversary of Riky Rick’s passing

Exactly a year ago Mzansi and the whole continent of Africa were woken up by the saddening news of the passing of Rikhado ‘Riky Rick’ Makhado. The self proclaimed King Kotini tragically lost his life this day last year and was later confirmed to have committed suicide.

Scores of fans across all social media platforms are commemorating the year anniversary of the late rapper’s passing. Without a doubt Riky Rick dominated the music space and transcended above and the beyond his artistry as he also ventured into business, acting and a creative genius.

His tragic passing really dented not only his family but the entire continent of Africa. Scores of his fans continues to celebrate Riky Rick’s music and brainchild, Cotton Fest Music concerts.

Social media is abuzz with commemoration messages, heartfelt notes and message of appreciation to the late Riky Rick.

“There’s never been anyone cooler than Riky Rick in SA hiphop. The man was just way too cool for school. The raps, style… It almost felt like we were playing catch up to Ricky. But he was patient with us. He waited for us to catch on” wrote Michael

“Riky Rick passed on a year ago today. He was more than just a Hip-Hop artist. Continue to Rest in Paradise king.” wrote Masande Gadini

In the spirit of celebrating the life that Riky Rick lived, other tweets could not help but compare his passing to the late, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes. The two were very close and worked in a couple of projects together. However, anything death that happens is just as painful as the next.

One of Riky Rick’s lyrics ‘we don’t die we multiple’ has gone as far as getting it own hashtag since his passing. This line has gained so much popularity over time and is frequently used on social media in many events.
