A soldier based at Imbizo Barracksย formerly Llewellyn Barracks will live to rue the day he went to drink beer at a local drinking spot at night after he was stabbed and robbedย of his mobile phone and cash US$180 by a nine-man gang.
The incident happened in Entumbane suburb close to a beer hallย on Sunday shortly after 9pm.
The soldierโs drinking mate who spoke to B-Metro on condition of anonymity said Luckson Mpande (35) boarded a commuter omnibus from town heading to his home.
He disembarked at D-Square before he headed to the beer hall and while he was walking nine men confronted him.
โOne of the robbers moved swiftly to him while hurling insults at him. Mpande tried to land a fist on him then things turned bad for him when he was stabbed.
“They kicked him and he fell down and passed out. They searched him and took US$180 and a phone and fled from the scene,” narrated Mpandeโs friend.
Mpande later recovered and reported the incident at Njube Police Station.
