Mandofa granted 100k bail

Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officer Smart Mandofa has been granted bail of $100,000 for criminal abuse of office.

He is accused of arresting businessman Ofer Sivan without proper investigation and in an attempt to protect fugitives from justice, Gilad Shabtai and Munyaradzi Gonyora.

Shabtai is facing several serious charges but remains a fugitive, while Gonyora has already appeared in court for fraud, theft, tax evasion, and other charges.

Mandofa allegedly ignored warrants of arrest against Shabtai and lied about the source of a report against Sivan.

The state alleges that ZACC officials had a duty to work with other law enforcement agents to bring Shabtai to justice.
