AWARD-winning BULAWAYO-based acapella group Amaqaqa are set to release their third album titled ‘Ngicel’elinye ithuba Baba’ on 27 May at the National  Gallery in Bulawayo.

Leader of the group Khulekani Khabo said they were in the process of fine-tuning the whole album which is being recorded in South Africa.

“It is a gospel album and we have been working on it for some time. This project is being fine-tuned and recorded in South Africa where we are set to hold a show on 29 April. The show is meant to promote the album,” said Khabo.

He added:  “Our fans there have been craving to see us perform so we just decided to hold a show there after the recording of our album and we are going to give them a taste of our new album but that will not be the launch event.”

On Friday, the musical group is scheduled  to perform at  Botswana’ s  Isintu Festival at the Serene View Garden.

“It will be our first time to perform in Botswana and we are really happy about  this tour which we believe will give us more knowledge about the arts industry as we will be sharing the stage with well-known musicians,” said Khabo.

The Bulawayo ensemble will share the stage with Sisa Senkosi the host, Dr Vom, Johnny Makhale, Slizer and Charma Gal, all from Botswana. South Africa will be represented by Platform One,  Izingane Zamamakhosi, Mangalaza Girls, and Frans Ceo.

Since it is Women’s Month Amaqaqa said they would be doing something for the women and show their support towards the movement in support of women’s rights.

“We will definitely perform a song called “Imbokodo” which is for the women and shows our appreciation for them in everything they do,” said Khabo.
