Island Hospice hosts Takkie Week Campaign to raise funds for palliative care and bereavement services

AS part of their annual fundraising activity to raise money for palliative care and bereavement services in Zimbabwe, Island Hospice and Healthcare is holding a Takkie Week Campaign running from 27 March to 31 March.

In a statement Island Hospice executive director Mudiwa Mundawarara said the Takkie Week Campaign runs under the theme, ‘No man is an Island’.

“This year, the campaign will run from 27 March to 31 March, (Monday to Friday) and this is an annual fundraising activity hosted by the Island Hospice and Healthcare in a bid to raise funds for essential palliative care and bereavement services,” said Mundawarara.

Mundawarara appealed for support from different stakeholders saying they should come and to join the campaign to ensure that they help improve the quality of life of patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

“We are appealing to corporates, schools and individuals to join us in the Takkie Week Campaign and assist in meeting the growing need.

“This assistance will help the Island to continue to improve the quality life of patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses and provide bereavement support to clients suffering from the loss of a loved one,” said Mundawarara.

He urged the participants to wear takkies during the campaign week and use a pair of Island Cancer colour-coded shoelaces.

“The participants in the campaign will wear takkies to work during the campaign week with a pair of Island Cancer colour-coded shoelaces and make a donation to the institution,” said Mundawarara.

Island Hospice and Healthcare offers palliative care services and support to those with life-threatening illnesses and the bereaved through comprehensive direct care, capacity development, partnerships, research and advocacy.
