An inyanga based at Makokoba market, popularly known as eMkambo in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly possessing a pangolin skin claiming his ancestors had instructed him to own it.
A source close to the incident said detectives from the Flora and Fauna Section received a tip-off that Busani Baloyi (32) had pangolin skin at his workplace.
Following a tip-off the detectives went to his workplace and raided his shop and found the pangolin skin.
โThey found pangolin skin placed on top of a bag containing herbs and they asked him to produce a licence authorising him to own it but he failed to produce it leading to his arrest,โ said the source.
Police quizzed him about where he got the pangolin skin and he revealed that he bought it from someone.
โHe told detectives that his ancestors instructed him to buy it and keep it at his workplace. He said after doing so things have been going on very well and he is now a powerful inyanga,โ said the source.
He was then arrested and is set to appear in court soon.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
