PASSING a negative comment on the dressing of a passerby at a local night spot left a 25-year-old woman from Nketa suburb in Bulawayo with a swollen left eye.

This was heard when Nicky Nkomo (25) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa facing a charge of assault.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to 15 May on $30 000 bail as the court awaits the victimโ€™s medical report.

The court heard that on 19 April at around 4.30am and at a local night spot Nkomo had a misunderstanding with Linda Ndlovu after she passed a negative comment on the dressing of a passerby saying that he was wearing lady slacks.

The court heard that at the height of a misunderstanding Nkomo assaulted Ndlovu by kicking her once on the left eye.

As a result, Ndlovu sustained a swollen eye.

She reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Nkomo.
