United Kingdom-based songstress Joy Rukanza is over the moon after winning the Outstanding Achievement in Music-Female accolade at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards UK, which were held on 22 April in London.

In the particular category, she was nominated alongside Hazel Mak, Valeree and Blessing Annatoria Chitapa.

She was also nominated in the Professional of the Year category with Prof Caroline Makaka, Farai Mwashita, Belvin Tawuya, Portia Mushambi and the award was scooped by Tadiwa Mubvumbi CA.

Global remittance giant World Remit was the โ€œPlatinum Partnerโ€ at the awards.

From her base in the UK, the Queendom hitmaker said it was a dream come true for her to win the award.

โ€œI was beyond elated to be nominated for the 2023 Zimbabwe Achievers Awards and to finally win an award at this level is a dream come true.

โ€œAs a newcomer who is still trying to navigate her path in the professional music space, such a nod is extremely encouraging, especially because the world of creative expression is full of ups and downs.

โ€œThe win is a sign that the world is listening and excited by what I have done so far, which is very humbling.

โ€œThis just came at the right time and it will give me the boost that I need to confidently introduce the world to my debut album MatterMoreForSis, which is scheduled for release during the second quarter of this year,โ€ said Joy Rukanza.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards is a global leading, independent organisation that was founded in 2010 by Conrad Mwanza.

The organisation recognises, rewards and celebrates the successes and achievements of Zimbabweans living abroad, in industries or sectors that include business, art, sport, entertainment and music.

The awards have become a pre-eminent feature present in several countries that include the UK, South Africa, USA and Australia.
