SA CLUB EYES CHIKUHWA

JOHANNESBURG.  The 2024/25 season Carling Knockout Cup winners, Magesi FC, are targeting the services of Zimbabwe’s 2024 Golden Boot winner.

Lynoth Chikuhwa of Highlanders won Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Golden Boot after scoring 17 goals.

Chikuhwa proved Highlanders’ point of difference in a season where they failed to sustain a serious title challenge.

Former PSL star Walter Musona was the Player of the Season award winner, while former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat emerged as the second runner-up.

It has emerged that Magesi are looking to beef up their attacking department with the veritable goal-getter, Chikuhwa.

Chikuhwa, whose contract with Highlanders ends on December 31, has also been linked with newly-promoted Zimbabwean team Scottland.

A source close to FARPost, revealed that Magesi have been making relentless efforts to lure the striker even though Scottland have the upper hand.

“They have made serious engagements hoping to sign him in January. His contract with Highlanders ends this year and many clubs want him.

“At the moment, it’s uncertain where he wants to be playing, locally or to move out of Zimbabwe. But there has been massive interest in his services,” the source said.

Magesi already have two Zimbabweans in their ranks, goalkeeper and captain Elvis Chipezeze and winger Edmore Chirambadare.

The duo was instrumental as Magesi rose to be Carling Knockout Cup winners.

They will be hoping to entice the 30-year-old marksman who previously played for Security Systems in Botswana. – FARPost
