“merry Christmas, Emmanuel the baby is born.” As award-winning gospel diva Eleana Makombe releases her captivating new single, “Wauya Emanuwere,” these happy words resound with warmth.

Today is Christmas and most people are celebrating the birth of Emmanuel.

Indeed, “Wauya Emanuwere”.

This lovely song, which was released five days ago in anticipation of Christmas Day, is a heartfelt gift to her devoted followers, commemorating the amazing event of Christ’s birth.

The name “Emmanuel” translates to “God with us,” a profound declaration of the divine presence among humanity.

Christian tradition holds that this name represents the fulfilment of old prophecies, especially those found in the book of Isaiah (Chapter 9:6), which predicted the arrival of a Messiah who would bring salvation and hope.

This message is central to the Christmas narrative, as it celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is the embodiment of God’s love and grace sent to redeem the world.

The song is already creating a buzz across social media, capturing hearts and uplifting spirits.

In an interview with The Herald Arts, the United Kingdom-based sensation shared her inspiration behind the title.

“I wanted to gift my fans a Christmas song that they could truly resonate with,” she expressed, her enthusiasm evident in her voice.

The song, produced by the talented Macdonald Chidavaenzi and visually brought to life by director Reginald Matinanga, is a stunning visual feast, designed to evoke the magic of the season.

In the video, Eleana, draped in a flowing white gown, embodies the spirit of the three wise men, riding gracefully upon a horse.

“I chose this imagery to represent their pilgrimage to honour the newborn King,” she explained.

As she sings, her voice weaves a tapestry of joy and celebration, set in a nest shaped like a heart—a poignant symbol of love and the humble birthplace of Emmanuel.

The visuals come alive with Eleana’s backup vocalists clad in robes, their movements harmonising with the rhythm of the season.

“With the coming of Emmanuel, there will be peace and joy,” she emphasised, underscoring the song’s hopeful message.

“It took me two months to develop this concept with my management,” she revealed.

“I didn’t want to starve my fans of music, as this is now my calling.”

The video shoot, which spanned three exhilarating days, was filled with adventure and creativity, culminating in a visual ode to the essence of Christmas.

Eleana passionately articulated the core message of her song: “The essence of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. This day signifies God’s love for us, as He gave us His son. We are in love with Him because He first loved us. That’s what the song is all about.”

Her words echo the profound significance of the holiday, reminding everyone of the joy and hope that accompanies Christ’s arrival.

This Christmas is especially meaningful for Eleana, who will celebrate surrounded by her family in Zimbabwe.

“I am at peace because my recent event went well, and I had the chance to honour my legends in gospel ministry,” she shared, reflecting on her successful Gospel Legends Night, where she celebrated the contributions of gospel icons with awards and Christmas hampers.

As the melodies of “Wauya Emanuwere” fill the air, they remind us of the true spirit of Christmas—a celebration of love, joy, and the miraculous gift of Emmanuel.

“Let us rejoice together, for He has come to wipe away our tears and bring joy to the world,”

Eleana concluded, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for her listeners.

In a time when joy and togetherness are cherished, Eleana’s heartfelt tribute encapsulates the essence of the season, inviting all to embrace the love and warmth that Christmas brings.
