Mutare man jailed 12 years for stealing teenager’s bicycle at gunpoint

A 30-year-old Mutare man, Josiah Saungweme has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for robbing a 17-year-old of his bicycle at gunpoint.

The incident occurred on September 9, 2024, along the Marange-22 Miles road.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Saungweme approached the teenager, who was riding a silver buffalo bicycle, and asked for directions.

He then pulled out a Blow F92 pistol and demanded that the teenager hand over the bicycle.

The teenager, fearing for his safety, surrendered the bicycle.
