A 29-year-old man allegedly killed his wife after he found out that she was taking some birth control pills without his knowledge.

Felix Maphosa killed his 47-year-old wife after hitting her with an iron bar and then hammered a nail into the now-deceased’s chest.

He was arrested and appeared at the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court facing murder charges.

He was remanded in custody to January 17 and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said on December 31, last year, a domestic dispute arose between the accused person and his wife after he discovered birth control pills that were being taken without his knowledge.

Felix struck his wife three times on the head with an iron bar.

He went on to hit a nail into her chest using a hammer.

He then left the house and went to drink beer before returning the next morning.

Meanwhile, a Beitbridge man has appeared in court for raping his cousin at knife point.

The 25-year-old allegedly raped the 15-year-old victim.

He appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court on rape charges and was remanded in custody to today.

The complainant is the accused person’s cousin, aged 15, and is in Form 2.

Allegations are that on December 31, last year, the complainant was home with two other minors.

The next morning, the complainant woke up to find the accused person touching her and she screamed for help.

The accused person dragged the complainant to a nearby bush where he caressed her with one hand while the other was holding the knife.

He then raped her.
