Reversing car runs over 8-month-old baby

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on January 7, 2025, at Plot 66 Glengarry in Bulawayo.

An Isuzu DMax vehicle reversing ran over and killed an eight-month-old toddler.
According to witnesses, the child was sleeping near the vehicle. Her mother left her unattended while she was busy harvesting tomatoes at the plot.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting discussions about child safety and the responsibilities of caregivers.
In a statement on X, the ZRP reported the incident, stating: “The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident, which occurred on 07-01-25 at Plot 66 Glengarry, Bulawayo.

A toddler (eight months) was killed after being run over by an Isuzu DMax vehicle, which was reversing. The toddler was sleeping near the vehicle where she had been left unattended by her mother who was harvesting tomatoes at the plot.”

Local authorities have urged parents to exercise caution and mindfulness regarding the safety of their children.
This is especially important in areas where vehicles are operating.
