A Congolese man has been fined US$150 after it was established that he had overstayed in Zimbabwe without a valid permit.
If he fails to pay the fine, Hassan Tata (45) will serve two months in prison.
Tata appeared before the Karoi Magistrates Court facing charges of contravening the Immigration Act.
On December 20 last year, Tata was found at Chirundu Border Post without a valid permit.
It was established that Tata had overstayed in the country after the expiration of his visitor’s Entry Certificate, leading to his arrest.
