A Bulawayo businessman is at the centre of a storm amid allegations that his wife attempted suicide following a heated domestic dispute.

The dispute reportedly stemmed after the businessman Misheck Mukodi, allegedly sold his wife Trish Mukodi’s car to pay off debts.
“He took his wife’s car and sold it. This deeply affected her emotionally, leading her to attempt suicide.

She collapsed and was rushed to United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH), where she was quickly attended to and her life was saved,” said the source.

Before her suicide attempt, Trish penned a heart-breaking suicide note and left it on their matrimonial bed.

The note reportedly detailed the alleged emotional abuse she endured at the hands of her husband.

“My blood is on your hands, Misheck. You took my car forcefully, ukanyepa (you lied about it).

Wandirambira zvandisingazive (You have denied me something I don’t know). If my parents ever allow you kuti uripe vanenge vandikanganisira, Sarai murugare mumba muno zvakanaka (If my parents ever allow you to appease them, they will have hurt me. Live peacefully in this house). Enjoy the works of my hands. Iwewe (you), your brother and mostly importantly your sister,” reads the suicide note.

When reached for comment, Trish confirmed that she attempted suicide and also confirmed the suicide note, which she penned before the attempt, which was found on their matrimonial bed.

“Yes, it’s true that I tried to end my life due to a domestic issue. I cannot disclose the specific reasons for my suicide attempt.

“I would like to thank God, my family members, and the staff at UBH for their timely intervention. I am now emotionally healing,” she said.

However, Trish denied that her husband physically abuses her.

“He does not beat me up,” she said. “Who told you that? Yes, we do face marital problems, just like any other marriage.’”

Misheck however, refused to comment on the matter and the allegations being levelled against him.
