A CHITUNGWIZA woman, who had just sold a car on Friday, was attacked by armed robbers who had been tipped off that she was in possession of a significant amount of money.
Rein Mareranyika, 41, was with her maid Susan Mutsvangwa, 20, sitting in her dining room when two armed men and one woman entered her house at around 5pm.
Two of the robbers were armed with machetes while the other one was armed with a knife.
They threatened to kill Rein and Susan and tied their legs and hands.
They also stuffed cloth into their mouths.
One of the robbers searched Rein and stole US$90, which was in her pockets.
They took her to her bedroom where they informed her that they were aware that she had sold her car.
They ransacked the room and stole a safe containing US$4760 and R8000.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
โPolice are investigating an armed robbery in Chitungwiza where a woman lost cash.
โThe accused persons immediately fled the scene, leaving the complainant and her maid tied and went away with cash,โ said Insp Chakanza.
