NEWLY appointed Dynamos assistant coach, Mark Mathe, is feeling on top of the world saying he is humbled by the trust that has been shown by the club’s head coach Lloyd “MaBlanyo” Chigowe and the entire Glamour Boys family.

Mathe was unveiled as the DeMbare first assistant coach yesterday in a development that saw ex-Warriors midfield genius Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda retrace his roots to DeMbare exactly 26 years since he joined the Glamour Boys, who had reached the Caf Champions League final in 1998.

The former Warriors creative hub has been named the manager of the Harare giants who are battling to save their soul after losing their core team from last season this transfer period

“I’m humbled about the trust and confidence that has been shown to me by coach Chigowe and the entire Dynamos family. It’s a great feeling, a proud feeling. It’s always an honour to coach one of the big clubs in Zimbabwe if not in Southern Africa.

“Dynamos is a big team and so is Highlanders and CAPS United. I have worked there, I want to bring the experience I gained there. Dynamos has a legion of fans, we will work very hard to get positive results,” said Mathe.

Turning to Chigowe’s coaching abilities and work ethic, Mathe, who has been working as deputy to long-time ally Mark Harrison at Mozambique side UD Songo where the pair left recently, said: “Lloyd Chigowe is a man I highly respect, he is very knowledgeable. He is not a novice, he is not new to the game, and he is not new to the Dynamos institution as some people might think.

“He has been there under the tutelage of Chidzambga (Sunday) and Pasuwa (Callisto). One thing we have in common is we really believe in young players. We don’t have a problem with senior players, but we believe that there is a need to give these youngsters a chance.”

Mathe replaces Joel Luphahla, who left to coach champions free spending Simba Bhora while
Gidiza replaced Harry Lusengo.

Lusengo is son of DeMbare board chairman Bernard Marriot Lusengo.

In a statement, DeMbare yesterday said: “Dynamos Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of our former midfielder Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda as the Glamour Boys’ new team manager for the 2025 season. As an accomplished former professional footballer with wealth of experience, the club believes Gidiza’s appointment will help shore up our technical team.”

The 48-year-old Gidiza, who won the league title with the now defunct AmaZulu in 2003, also saw action at Zimbabwe Saints where he started his career.
