HARARE Mayor Jacob Mafume has said all Full Council Meetings will be live-streamed on social media platforms like Facebook to enhance information dissemination and increase transparency.
The mayor said the initiative is meant to enhance information dissemination, increase transparency and provide cresidents with real-time access to council proceedings.
He also outlined the city’s plans to enhance information dissemination, including publishing Council minutes online, utilising resident platforms like The Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA) and Harare Residents Trust (HRT), and ensuring proper website management.
Speaking at an CHRA platform on Information Integrity at Batanai Gardens yesterday, Mayor Mafume said this initiative aims to increase transparency and provide residents with real-time access to council proceedings.
“The city’s plans to enhance information dissemination, including publishing council minutes online, utilising resident platforms like CHRA and HRT and ensuring proper website management.
“The live streaming of Council meetings is a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability.
“We want to ensure that our citizens are informed and engaged in the decision-making processes. The accuracy and reliability of information are essential in building trust among our citizens and stakeholders.”
He added:
“As a city, we recognise the importance of information integrity in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
“We are committed to providing our residents with accurate and timely information.
“By leveraging technology and community platforms, we aim to promote transparency, encourage citizen engagement and build trust in our governance processes,” he said.
