SHIHAN Wilfred Mashaya, a renowned martial artist from Zimbabwe, has been inducted into the International Budo Bushi Hall of Fame, a prestigious Poland-based institution which recognises outstanding contributions to martial arts.

A place in the International Budo Bushi Hall of Fame, which translates to “Martial Arts Warrior,” is a coveted recognition that celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to martial arts.

The induction is a testament to Mashaya’s dedication, discipline and good character, which serve as a strong role model for aspiring martial artists.

Mashaya was awarded the Ninja Warrior award for being the first certified Ninja from Zimbabwe.

He also received a sixth Dan certificate in Kobudo, the Shihan Self Defence Certificate, the World Nunchaku Champion Belt, Samurai Award Trophy, Samurai Award Belt, Golden Colour Nunchaku, Medals of Honour and the Order of the Dragon Special Award.

The induction ceremony, organised by the International Martial Arts Association and the International Self Defence Association, was attended by representatives from over 20 countries, including Romania, Israel, India, Slovakia, the UK, Poland, Nepal, Turkey, Montenegro, Portugal, Ukraine, Germany, Greece, Egypt, Czechia, Indonesia, Switzerland, the United State and Belgium.

“I am humbled and feel deeply honoured to have received such recognition from the international community, especially from Europe, once again,” Mashaya said.

“As I have always said, being appreciated by people from outside your own country is something that I don’t take lightly.

“It’s a blessing to me and the award means a lot as it is an appreciation of my work not only in martial arts but also in the society where I am making an impact.

“I also understand that goes a long way in putting our country on the map in the world of martial arts, which I am proud of.”
