FOUNDERS High School in Bulawayo has once again proven itself to be a force to reckon with in education after achieving an impressive 47,1 percent pass rate in the 2024 Ordinary Level examinations.

Their results surpass the national average of 33,3 percent, putting the school among the best high schools in the province.

In an interview, the schoolโ€™s headmistress, Mrs Dorothea Moyo, said as a school they are thrilled with the results, which are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and members of staff.

โ€œAt Founders High School, we strive for excellence in all aspects of our studentโ€™s education, and these results demonstrate that our efforts are paying off,โ€ she said.

Mrs Moyo attributed the schoolโ€™s success to its commitment to its core values of excellence and dedication, as encapsulated in the schoolโ€™s philosophy โ€œFounders First, Founders Best.โ€

She emphasised that the schoolโ€™s structured support system, which includes regular motivational talks, personalised mentoring programmes, and a reward system for top-performing students, helps to foster a culture of hard work and motivation among learners.

The headmistress also praised the schoolโ€™s dedicated teachers, who she described as the cornerstone of their success. She noted that the school invests heavily in professional development programmes, equipping teachers with modern teaching techniques and resources.

In addition to its academic achievements, Founders High School is also known for its holistic approach to education, which includes a wide range of extracurricular activities, such as sports, debate, music, and community service projects.

These activities help to build studentsโ€™ confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills, making them well-rounded individuals ready to face the world.

As the school looks to the future, Mrs Moyo expressed her commitment to building on its achievements, introducing more innovative teaching methods, expanding its infrastructure, and enhancing its extracurricular offerings.

โ€œFounders High School is not just a school; it is a family where every member is committed to excellence, with our philosophy of Founders First, Founders Best, we are confident that we will continue to set the standard for education in Zimbabwe,โ€ she said.

Founders High School boasts state-of-the-art boarding facilities that provide a safe, comfortable and nurturing environment for students. The facilities, Mrs Moyo described as a home away from home. It features spacious dormitories, modern amenities and a team of caring housemasters and matrons.

โ€œWe are committed to providing our boarders with the best possible environment to focus on their studies, students get to be in a safe environment and have strong academic supervision our teachers volunteer to offer extra lessons,โ€ said Mrs Moyo.

The school said the system will continue to be improved to enhance access convenience for parents and learners too.
