SA’s EFF leader Dali Mpofu defects to MK

South Africa opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party chairperson, Advocate Dali Mpofu, has joined uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party led by former President Jacob Zuma.

Advocate Mpofu confirmed the development in an interview with SABC News this morning where he stated that he believes the MK Party is the only vehicle capable of achieving unity and emancipation.

The former EFF chair joins several other senior EFF members that have exited the party to join MK party.
Advocate Mpofu served as EFF chairperson for five years.

He told SABC Morning Live that he is of the view that the only party that represents his passion for national unity is the MK Party.

“The MK Party has been true to fostering unity. Total black and progressive unity and I feel total liberation will be achieved through MK Party.”

He said he has done a lot of soul-searching in deciding to join the MK Party.

“I believe that the vehicle that we will achieve national and progressive unity is the MK Party.”
He said politics is in his blood.

Advocate Mpofu was part of the ANC for three years and then the EFF for 11 years.

“I don’t believe you have to die in the ANC, EFF or MK. But for now, the MK Party represents a much broader vision for decolonisation and carries the alternative to unite our people,” he said.

He said Floyd Shivambu, who recently quit the EFF to join MK Party, has nothing to do with his move.

Advocate Mpofu said his membership with the EFF has lapsed and he is free to make the move.

“The philosophy of the EFF on economic freedom cannot be faulted. However, I am of the view that the party that represents my passion for the much-needed unity is the MK Party.”

Advocate Mpofu is among several EFF leaders who have jumped ship to join former EFF deputy president who is now MK Party national organiser Floyd Shivambu; former EFF MP who is now MK’s parliamentary chief whip Mzwanele Manyi and former EFF MP who is now MK’s Mpumalanga convener Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Meanwhile, EFF leader Julius Malema reacted to the news on X saying:

“Only two more of your favourites remain, and the list will be finalised. They sing beautifully and are always willing to pose for pictures and sign roll calls, but remember, their souls are long gone.

To prevent any potential hurt, it’s crucial to heed the guidance of the leadership. We remain standing and are not going anywhere under a criminal syndicate,” said Malema.
