After releasing the nominations list last month, the organisers of the 8th edition of the Changamire Festival Awards have revealed that they are ready to host the awards which will be held at 12 April at Long Cheng Plaza in Belvedere.
Leading the pack on the nominations is Holy Ten who got nominated on 14 categories, automatically crowning him as the “king” of Hip Hop in the country.
The founder and organiser of the awards Tafadzwa “Zimboy” Muchechetere said Holy Ten was worth the nominations since he was consistent throughout the past year.
“Holy Ten has secured 14 nominations and that is record breaking. He has been nominated for Best Male, Best Album, People’s Choice, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Hip Hop Verse, Socialite of The Year, Best Hip Hop Group, Best Performance Act, Best Alternative Act × 2, Best Collaboration × 2,2 Songs of The Year,” said Muchechetere.
On the female side, rapper Kikky is leading with 11 nominations which include Best Female, Song of The Year, People’s Choice, Best Alternative Song, Best Hip-Hop Verse, Best Performance Act, Best Hip-Hop Group, Best Hip-Hop Video, Socialite of The Year,2 Best Collaboration.
Honorary Awards for the night, including the Lifetime Achievement Honorary Award, will be presented to Roki, Nadia Nakai and Blackie will be bestowed with the most influential female and male African artistes respectively.
“We have honoured Roki as a local artiste as we embrace his commitment to the music industry. It is a lifetime commitment and it requires recognition. As we embrace Roki, we will be celebrating with him a lifetime achievement of 20 years of pushing the culture, Urban Groove, producing the passion and everything,” said Muchechetere.
