FORGET the courtroom drama!
While adultery cases often find their way into the courts, with aggrieved husbands seeking damages from men who would have slept with their wives, a man from Gokwe, Midlands Province has taken an unconventional approach to seeking redress.
The heartbroken man is reportedly sending a troop of baboons to the man he caught having sex with his wife, demanding compensation. The man, from Katunhumara Village under Chief Nemangwe reportedly caught a neighbour in the act of having sex with his wife in their garden. The secret lover then fled the scene. The husband is alleged to have demanded two cows from the secret lover as compensation for sleeping with his wife, but he refused.
According to a source, instead of approaching the traditional courts as is usually the case, the husband decided to take matters into his own hands and sent a troop of baboons to the secret lover’s home to demand compensation.
Sources said the husband’s suspicions were first aroused when he allegedly intercepted text and WhatsApp messages from the secret lover on his wife’s cell phone.
These messages allegedly detailed the two’s adulterous relationship and their sexual encounters. His suspicions were confirmed when he later discovered the two engaged in sexual intercourse in his garden.
“On the day he caught his wife in the act with her secret lover, she pretended to visit their vegetable garden, claiming she wanted to water vegetables, while her real intention was to meet her lover.
“While she was in the garden, the lover arrived. The husband, who had been suspicious of his wife’s recent behaviour, went to the garden where, upon arrival, he was shocked to discover them engaged in sexual intercourse. Upon realising they had been seen, the secret lover fled.
“He attempted to speak with him, but the secret lover refused. Instead of approaching the headman or Chief, he reportedly resorted to supernatural means, sending baboons to the secret lover’s home to demand two head of cattle as compensation,” the source said.
Beyond the unsettling visits from the baboons, the source claimed the secret lover has also experienced unexplained bleeding from his manhood, which he says began shortly after the incident in the garden.
“It was quite a spectacle, the secret lover’s home became a regular baboon hangout. They would show up, sometimes a whole troop of them, just milling around his yard, seemingly waiting. He also experienced unexplained bleeding from his manhood. The whole situation was bizarre and unsettling.
“Eventually, he just couldn’t take it anymore. He decided it was easier to pay up than to continue living like that. That is when he approached the woman’s husband and agreed on a payment plan,” the source said.
When reached for comment, Chief Nemangwe said the matter had not come to his attention.
“From what you’ve said, it appears the parties reached an agreement on their own, which may be why it never reached us,” he explained.
“However, even if they choose to resolve such matters independently, they should still be brought to the Chief’s attention so we can ensure an amicable resolution.”
