Beitbridge-based award-winning muso Gift “Bhadilah” Ndlovu mourned his longtime friend Pious Ndou who was famously known as DJ Fabs, while performing at the Beitbridge Corporate and People’s Choice Awards.
The awards were organised by the Beitbridge Business EXPO over the weekend.
DJ Fabs was born in 1995 and he died in January 2023. Bhadilah described the late as a “great visionary who loved to play local music on his sets in night clubs, who also went on to form a movement called Beit Nuaic Kings which had a vision of pushing local”.
In remembering DJ Fabs, Bhadilah’s costume at the Beitbridge Corporate and People’s Choice Awards, was inspired by that of Undertaker, a professional wrestler, something that wowed the audience.
“DJ Fabs was a very cool guy who was close to me. I sometimes used him as my personal DJ who would play for me at my shows or gigs in Beitbridge and beyond. His death was premature and it broke my heart.
“As a way of remembering him, I wore the costume and did the Undertaker stunt to make an impression or show that DJ Fabs legacy will live on. I wanted to make an impression that the dead man is alive! We shall forever carry on his legacy!” said Bhadilah.
The Ntengeleni hitmaker said he would compose a song in honour of DJ Fabs.
