Bulawayo man sodomises US$7 debt collector

Mashudu Mambo
A man from Magwegwe suburb in Bulawayo got more than what he had bargained for when he was allegedly sodomised by a man he had confronted over a US$7 debt.

This was heard when Sipho Ndlovu (28) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza facing a charge of sodomy.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to 14 April for trial.

Allegations against Ndlovu are that on 22 December last year and at around 9am, the victim went to Ndlovuโ€™s house and demanded US$7 which he claimed he owed him.

Ndlovu is alleged to have invited the victim into his house and led him to his bedroom where he locked the door and told him that he would give him his money if he complied with his orders.

He then ordered him to remove his pair of trousers and allegedly sodomised him once and gave him US$1 and instructed him to come and collect the balance the next day.

The victim did not report the matter to anyone and on 16 January, Ndlovu approached the victim and asked him to tend his garden and he promised to give him US$5.

The victim agreed and while he was working Ndlovu came and tried to molest him.

He fought back and went to the police to file a report, and this led to the arrest of Ndlovu.

A medical report was produced in court as evidence.

In his defence, Ndlovu said the accusations were false as he was not sexually attracted to men.

โ€œThe complainant was drunk when he came to my house demanding his money.

โ€œHe should try to remember the culprit because l am โ€˜happilyโ€™ married and l have no interest in men,โ€ said Ndlovu.
