DJ Liz for Vic Falls Carnival

She has performed on big stages, opening the decks for most South African artistes who have performed in Bulawayo and that has beefed up DJ Liz’s career to the extent of being announced as one of the creatives who will grace this year’s Victoria Falls Carnival.

The 11th edition of the Carnival is slated to run from 28 to 30 April in Victoria Falls (Elephant Hills Resort), with some events set to be held in Livingstone, Zambia (Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya.)

Thirteen events are lined up across nine locations and this touts this year’s extravaganza as the biggest edition of the Carnival.

DJ Liz is one of the few female artistes who will be performing at the Carnival, with some of them being Lerato Kganyago who is one of Mzansi’s most popular radio and club DJs, who started her career as co-host on Sabc’s freshest music show Live Amp, and now a co-host at Metro FM’s day time show.

Some of the finest artistes that DJ Liz will share the stage with include globetrotting South African DJ Black Coffee, Podcast n Chill’s Mac G and Sol Phenduka, Mafikizolo, Black Motion, Mi Casa, Oskido, Botswana’s Han-C, Mokoomba, Enzo Ishall, DJ Rimo, Anita Jaxson, Jah Prayzah and DJ Nitefreak who returns to the list after impressing revellers last year.

The wheel spinner who has never attended any edition of the Carnival said her call-up came at the right moment in her career, and she is happy to be representing female DJs at the country’s foremost festival.

“I have never been to the Vic Falls Carnival because when it will be happening, I will be booked to perform somewhere else. However, I am happy that this year I will be gracing the event as a performer and it’s going to be a life-changing experience.

“I feel blessed to be one of the few females who are part of the Carnival because I worked hard to be here. The DJying as well as any art space in the industry is male-dominated and we as the few women in this domain have changed the narrative and we are proving to be just as competitive as men.

“I am proud that I will be representing all the female DJs all over the world and that on its own is a sign of growth and I hope this gig will attract international events for me,” said DJ Liz, a mother of one.

Despite the Vic Falls Carnival being one of the biggest stages in Africa, DJ Liz is not scared to share the same decks especially with male DJs as she said she earned her stripes to be on the Carnival’s main stage.

“I have shared the stage before with the legend Oskido at his All-White Parties at Cosmopolitan. I have also shared the stage with Mi Casa as well as Musa Keys so I am not fazed by sharing the stage with big names. Actually, I am looking forward to the challenge and proving to the world what females are capable of,” said DJ Liz.
