Hopeless world inspires artiste

Lorraine Mathe

IN a modern world where people are saddled with everyday life challenges, pandemics such as the coronavirus and mental illness, it’s difficult to look forward to a better tomorrow, a situation aptly put into a song by an inspiring musician.

For rock and afro jazz artiste Shepherd Nyambayo, life is a roller coaster whose challenges musicians can use to pen songs that inspire listeners to strive for a fruitful future.

The Covid-19 pandemic was especially a difficult time for the whole world and its trials and tribulations pushed Nyambayo to the studio.

“The pandemic eroded the livelihoods of many families and communities. Economies were shaken, families pushed into the clutches of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), drug abuse cases increased among other social ills and through all those challenges I found myself in the studio.

The world became hopeless, no one was spared and it was our duty as musicians to write songs that inspired the world that a better tomorrow awaits us,” said Nyambayo.

Who is Nyambayo?

Nyambayo is a 30-year-old Bulawayo-based rock, afro jazz and zouk artiste.

He is launching his first album titled One Hope on 29 April 2023 at City Pentecostal.

He started his musical journey in 2018 while he was in the United States of America (USA).

“I had an opportunity to minister at two stages and two cities. The first one was a talent show at the CANVAS Institute Staten Island in New York (NY) and the other one was at Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington DC at a concert organised by the Mandela Washington Fellowship through the ambitions of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) programme.

Nyambayo said the six-track album was about keeping hope alive and encourages people who are on the verge of giving up to be hopeful because  the Lord is able to deliver us from all forms of bondage.

“So I decided to turn this message of hope into songs that I could share with the rest of the world, which is what inspired me into singing.

He is also the founder and director of Aspire Africa Development Foundation which is a livelihood strengthening programme that supports Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVCs).

Nyambayo is also a model, life coach and a philanthropist.

“I’m so thrilled to finally share my art and message with the world. It’s been a long way coming and I’m so grateful for this wonderful opportunity and to share the messages of hope to the people.

I am also grateful for the sponsorship from Excel Communication as well as the sponsorship from Active Health Care”.
