IN an act of jealousy, a 64-year-old man from Bulawayo ran berserk and assaulted his girlfriend with fists after seeing her with another man.

This was heard when Wycliffe Sibanda appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six months imprisonment of which three months were suspended on condition that he pays a fine of $20 000

The remaining three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard that on 19 December 2022 and around 8pm, Sibanda saw his girlfriend, Thandiwe Sibanda (35) standing with another man near a service station along Luveve road in Bulawayo.

Angered by this, he assaulted her with fists three times on the face and once on the right arm.

She sustained a fracture as a result of the assault.

The matter was then reported to the police leading to his arrest and a medical report was produced in court as an exhibit.
