A man from Burombo flats in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly cultivating dagga.

This was after detectives CID Drugs and Narcotics section received a tip-off that Jerry Mlalazi (55) had cultivated dagga at a bushy area which is a few metres away from his home.

The detectives went to the said place and discovered three plants of dagga each measuring two metres.

After that they quizzed Mlalazi about the dagga plants and he admitted that they belonged to him. He was then arrested.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

โ€œAs the police we would like to express our profound gratitude to members of the public for supplying us with significant information that led to the arrest of a man for unlawful cultivation of dagga.

โ€œWe urge community members to join forces with the police in fighting drug abuse by reporting drug peddlers to the police,โ€ he said.
