FOR Courage Moyo (23) from Bulawayo’s Pumula East suburb it seemed he was under Dutch courage for him to grab his aunt by her throat and violently push her against the wall before kicking her private parts and buttocks.
It is reported that after taking one too many he went home late into the night and banged on the door of her aunt’s bedroom forcing her to open the door for him.
When she opened the door for him he landed blows on her before kicking and punching her on the face causing her to fall to the ground.
While she was writhing in agony, Courage kicked her on her private parts and buttocks.
She sustained a swollen face and buttocks and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
The incident was reported to the police leading to his arrest.
Courage appeared before Western Commonage Court magistrate Linear Khumalo charged with physical abuse.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Courage was sentenced to six months imprisonment of which three months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within a period of three years.
The remaining three months were suspended on condition that he performs 105 hours of community service at St Bernard’s Primary School.
In arriving at the sentence the magistrate considered that Courage was a first-time offender who did not waste the court’s time when he pleaded guilty to the charge.
