A 32-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo has been arrested for stabbing his 27-year-old wife on the buttocks over infidelity.

Terrence Madhowo from Magwegwe North suburb assaulted his wife Yvonne Musariri accusing her of cheating on him.

Madhowo pleaded guilty when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Munjanja charged with physical abuse.

He was remanded out of custody to 7 March 2023 for sentencing.

The court heard that on 21 February 2023 and at around 10pm, Madhowo was home with his wife in their bedroom.

Musariri’s cell phone started ringing and when she realised that it was a male who was calling, she quickly declined the call.

Madhowo then questioned her about the man who was calling her at night and Musariri said she didn’t know him.

Out of rage, Madhowo slapped her several times all over her body before he stabbed her on the buttocks and went on to assault her with a wooden spoon mixer (uphehlo).

Musariri was referred to hospital for medical treatment.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Madhowo’s arrest.

When he was asked by the magistrate why he assaulted his wife Madhowo said it wasn’t the first time she had received calls from males during late hours and that led him to suspect that his wife was cheating on him.
