Marathon 13-hour solo musical performance against Drugs to be held in Plumtree

AFTER one of Plumtree town’s creatives Babongile Sibanda walked 100km from Bulawayo to Plumtree to raise awareness about drug abuse, another artiste from the border town DJ Yugoe is set to do the second phase of the Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign.

On 25 February DJ Yugoe real name Dumisani Magalane will perform for 13 hours at the CABS roundabout starting from 5am to 6pm.

“On 25 February we are doing a phase two of the Anti Drug Awareness Campaign. I will do a 13-hour straight DJ set at the CABS roundabout starting at 5am and finishing at 6pm.

“We will also do a march around Plumtree and I urge those who will be in town (Plumtree) to join us as we continue the fight against drugs. If we don’t do this, no one else will and no one is coming to save us,” said DJ Yugoe.

Phase one of the campaign was successful.

Babongile Sibanda faced his fears and walked 100km from Bulawayo to Plumtree to raise awareness of drug abuse and its effects.

Sibanda made the gruelling journey to inspire young people to abstain from taking drugs, which has become a cause for concern in Plumtree and the entire country.

He was accompanied by his brother Lewis, with Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, the Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry joining the two at the 23km point towards Plumtree and walking with them to the border town.

They were received by the Plumtree community, including Babongile’s mother and sister, with the walk ending on a high note at Omadu where there was a modelling contest.
