Nigerian singer and songwriter CKay has been unveiled as the last and final artiste to headline the 2023 Vic Falls Carnival Main Stage at Elephant Hills Resort, which will take place from 28 to 30 April in the resort town.
CKay, also known as “Africa’s Boyfriend”, is the rising star in the ever-burgeoning Afrobeats scene, spearheading a self-coined subgenre “Emo-Afrobeat.”
The Nigerian singer rose to fame courtesy of his hit song Love Nwantiti which earned him global recognition.
His remix of Love Nwantiti featuring DJ Yo and Axel, became the most “Shazamed” song in the world and propelled him into the history books to become the first African artiste to hit 20 million Spotify listeners.
With so much that solidifies his talent, CKay will share the stage with some of Africa’s best acts including Musa Keys, Jah Prayzah, Oskido, LKG, Toss, Mdoovar and 9umba, Black Motion, Enzo Ishall, Anita Jaxson, Mac G and Sol, Top Cheri, Rimo, Mi Casa, Mafikizolo, Han-C, Khoisan, Tashinga, Nitefreak, Just Drev, DJ Liz, Nospa, Nkosiminator, Renolife, Andrea the Vocalist, Doll Ya Mama and Boity.
The Felony hitmaker is excited to be part of this year’s edition of the annual Carnival.
“The mission is to take African music to the world. We have already done that, but it’s still work in progress, still doing, working, adding more building blocks every day, trying to expand our reach.
“I feel African music is too amazing to keep to ourselves. With my appearance at the Carnival, I think we should spread it (African music) and hold on to it at the same time,” said CKay.
The eleventh edition of the Vic Falls Carnival has been labelled as the biggest edition ever as the festivities will also cross over to Livingstone, Zambia under the drive “Destination Livingstone”.
For the Zambian festivities, the organisers of the Carnival partnered Timedia, Kulture Xchange, and Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya as well as Livingstone Resort.
The Carnival director Craig Bright revealed that “Destination Livingstone” was born from the desire to include the Zambian side in the music experiences, to create a bigger festival footprint and reach more fans than ever before.
Trace TV, the first destination for the latest urban and afro-urban celebrity news, music, lifestyle, entertainment, and culture, returns as the official media partner for the Carnival along with Star FM Zimbabwe as the official radio partner and Pula Power as the Botswana TV partner.
Wild Africa Fund is the official conservation partner and OASIS ONE Rockstar TV joins the Carnival as the official premium live and on-demand streaming and content partner.
