Fungai Muderere

THE 2023 Southern Region Division One League action resumes on Saturday after a previous campaign that saw Hwange emerge as the eventual winners to earn the sole ticket to the country’s Premier Soccer League.

In the 2022 season, ZPC Hwange finished as the first runners up while Talen Vision concluded as the third best club.

According to a 2023 fixtures schedule released during the course of the week, ZPC Hwange will start their campaign with an away fixture against ex-premiership side Zimbabwe Saints who are now under the tutelage of Xolani “Skweya” Nkundlande.

Saints were relegated from the league last season but will rejoin the league again after clubs that include Indosakusa pulled out of the league creating room for Chauya Chikwata.

Talen Vision, who are highly tipped to conquer all and sundry this term, will do duty against Ratanang on Saturday at Luveve B-Arena.

Miroslav Nemec

Kick off is 12 pm.

Talen Vision recently reunited with their Slovakian coach Miroslav Nemec. Nemec was appointed Talen Vision head coach in March and is assisted by Saul Ndlovu and Golding Dube.

Nemec, Dube and Ndlovu beat ex-Premier Soccer League coach Philani Mabhena, former Manica Diamonds coach Johanisi  Nhumwa and ex-Bantu Rovers and Black Mambas player Fortune “Fokoza” Ncube to assume their new roles at the Trukumb Mining sponsored side.

The club also appointed Andrew Sidambe and Wonder Mpofu as their goalkeepers mentor and team manager respectively.

Mpofu previously worked in the same capacity with the now defunct Bantu Rovers
Mpopoma-based Ajax Hotspurs will meet Adachi at White City Stadium B Arena while Plumtree based Mainline entertain Makhandeni Pirates in the border town.

Mountain Climbers will make the trip to the resort town of Victoria Falls for a date with Mosi Rovers.
On Sunday, Arenel will play host to Binga Pirates at White City’s B Arena. Indlovu Iyanyathela will lock horns with Filabusi-based league’s newboys Jordan Sinnot.

Jordan Sinnot recently roped in ex-Manica Diamond head coach Johanisi Nyumwa as their gaffer.
Highlanders’ developmental side Bosso90 have a home tie against DRC United at Luveve B Arena.

The match will start at 3pm.
