Two men up for stabbing

Mashudu Mambo
TWO men from Bulawayo have appeared in court for allegedly assaulting and stabbing another man with an okapi knife on his finger over an unknown dispute.

Mandlenkosi Moyo (46) from Sunninghill and Nkosana Neta (32) from Nketa suburb appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Collet Ncube facing a charge of attempted murder.

They were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody.

Assault

Allegations against the duo are that on 26 February at around 8.30pm in front of a service station in Old Luveve, they met Brian Samuriwo who was on his way to the toilet.

Moyo then hit him with an unknown object on the back of his head and he fell down.

Samuriwo then got up and was grabbed by Neta on the neck who then pushed him back to the ground.

Moyo then sat on Samuriwoโ€™s chest and assaulted him with fists on the face several times before he attempted to pluck out his right eye with his nails.

The duo then took turns to assault the victim and Neta then stomped on the victimโ€™s ribs allowing Moyo to produce an okapi knife that he used to stab him on his finger.

As a result of the attack Samuriwo sustained a swollen face, right eye and painful headache and ribs.

He was referred to the hospital for a medical examination.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the duo who are being represented by their lawyer Tinashe Dzipe.
