After a two-year setback, award-winning Gwanda-based songstress Ukukhanya eAfrica, real name Sandra Sibanda has bounced back on the music scene as she dropped a new single, Indonga zeJericho.
The Afro pop song, produced by Zie The Artiste and Tizzie, is a biblical allusion based on the battle of Jericho.
According to the book of Joshua, โthe walls of Jericho fell after the Israelites marched around the city walls once a day for six days, seven times on the seventh day, and then blew their trumpetsโ.
Connecting the verse with reality, Ukukhanya eAfrica said the song was written as a way of encouraging people who are going through hard times to soldier on and continue believing in God, for He will make a way.
โThe song was written based on the scenes from the book of Joshua about the falling of the walls of Jericho. Despite the difficulties that the Israelites faced in fighting in the course of the conquest of Canaan, they believed in God and by blowing trumpets, the walls fell and they were victorious.
โThere are people who are going through a lot in life, some have given up, but this song comes as a gospel of hope to people to continue believing in God no matter how hard the situation is, as He will make a way,โ said Ukukhanya eAfrica.
Her first album Qoki, which won her Outstanding Newcomer at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards in 2021, was produced entirely by Zie The Artist.
Zie also returns to the production department on Ukukhanya eAfricaโs songs, as most of the upcoming singles that she will release during the course of the year, were produced by him.
โZie is an exceptional producer who understands the kind of music I want to deliver to people. Usually, when I write music, I depend on the instrumentals that he gives me as a guideline for my composition.
โWe connect on a higher level because we understand the chemistry towards creating good music. We will continue working together as long as God permits,โ said Ukukhanya eAfrica.
