A WOMAN from Bulawayo has been arrestedย and arraigned before the courts after she was found in possession ofย 240 grams of dagga worth $240 000 hidden inside her house.
Memory Nyathi (28) of Iminyela pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs when she appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mjanja.
She was sentenced to seven months in prison and three months were suspended for three years on condition of good behaviour.
Theย remaining four months were further suspended on condition that she completes 140 hours of community service at Western Commonage courts.
It was the State case that sometime in March, eight police officers from Bulawayo District Reaction Group who were on duty received information to the effect that Nyathi was in possession of dangerous drugs at her house.
Following that tip-off the police officers went to her house and upon their arrival they introduced themselves and advised Nyathi about the purpose of their visit.

The recovery led to her arrest and seizure of the drugs.
The drugs were then taken to Bulawayo Main Post Office where they were weighed in the presence of Nyathi.
The drugs weighed 240 grammes with a street value of $240 000.
