AS a seasoned football administrator and former representative of the Southern Region Area Zones in the Zifa Assembly, Chris Mtungwazi is poised to take his passion for grassroots football to the next level.
With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the sport, Mtungwazi is vying for a position on the Zifa board, armed with a bold vision to transform Zimbabwean football.
At the heart of Mtungwazi’s campaign lies a steadfast commitment to grassroots development.
He firmly believes that the future of Zimbabwean football begins with nurturing young talent and providing them with access to quality infrastructure, expertise and resources.
By investing in grassroots football, Mtungwazi aims to create a robust foundation for the sport, one that will yield dividends for generations to come.
Mtungwazi’s vision extends beyond the playing field. He is dedicated to empowering local communities, promoting inclusivity and ensuring that football becomes a catalyst for social and economic development.
With his experience leading Area Zones, Mtungwazi says he is well-equipped to drive positive change and promote a culture of excellence within Zifa.
“My vision is to create a network of vibrant, community-based football zones that will provide opportunities for young players to develop their skills, compete with their peers and pursue their dreams.
By empowering local communities to take ownership of their football development, we can create a more sustainable, more inclusive and more resilient football ecosystem that benefits everyone,” said Mtungwazi.
Equitable representation is another cornerstone of Mtungwazi’s campaign.
He believes that every region, club and stakeholder deserves a voice in the decision-making process.
But Mtungwazi says he’s also committed to improving the welfare of councillors, recognising the critical role they play in promoting the game at the local level.
By supporting councillors, Mtungwazi aims to create a more sustainable and resilient football infrastructure.
He is also passionate about driving development initiatives that will take Zimbabwean football to the next level. From investing in state-of-the-art infrastructure to promoting football tourism, he says he has a clear plan to create a thriving football economy.
He believes that Zifa should be a source of pride, a symbol of excellence and integrity.
By promoting good corporate governance, transparency and accountability, Mtungwazi says he aims to restore the public’s trust in Zifa.
He also has a passion for uplifting women’s football and promoting football for persons with disabilities.
Mtungwazi recognises that these groups have been historically marginalised, and he is committed to creating opportunities and promoting inclusivity.
“As Zimbabweans, we have a choice to make. We can choose to maintain the status quo, or we can choose to elect a leader who has a clear vision for the future of our football. Chris Mtungwazi is that leader. Let us rally behind him and give him the mandate to transform Zimbabwean football. Together, we can create a brighter future for our beloved sport,” said Mtungwazi.
“My vision is to create a Zimbabwean football ecosystem that is inclusive, equitable and sustainable. I believe that every Zimbabwean deserves access to quality football facilities, coaching and resources, regardless of their background or location,” said Mtungwazi.
He promised to bring good governance.
“For too long, our football has been plagued by poor governance, corruption and a lack of transparency.
As a leader, I am committed to restoring the integrity of our football federation and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency,” said Mtungwazi.
“Zimbabwean football has the potential to be a source of national pride and unity,” Mtungwazi emphasised.
