Madodana ‘Horsepower’ burial set for Sunday

Lovemore Dube, [email protected]

MADODANA ‘Horsepower’ Tshabangu will be buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Sunday.

Tshabangu died on Monday last week at the age of 67 after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.

He was due for an operation at the time of his death but doctors said he was too weak to undergo surgery.

His son Maradona confirmed yesterday that they had completed the paperwork for the late social football guru’s body to be repatriated to Zimbabwe.

His body will leave South Africa on Friday and head to his E310 Njube home where a church service will be held.

The body will then be taken to a funeral parlour where it will lie in State overnight.

On Sunday morning, his body will be taken to Njube ‘Desert’ Stadium where he made his name as a player and organiser of great social football tournaments during the off-season.

After the Desert Stadium service, the body will then be taken to his final resting place at Lady Stanley Cemetery.

Maradona said his father’s legacy will live on as they will host the annual Horsepower tournament in his memory from next year.

Tshabangu is survived by his wife, three sons, Maradona, Platini, Ronaldo, and daughter Serena.
