Wedding of the week

Wedding of Michael K Msekiwa, son of Mr Minton & Joyce Msekiwa of Gwabalanda, Bulawayo, and Vimbainashe Chipadza, daughter of Mr Norman & Pedzisai Chipadza of Nketa, Bulawayo.

Venue: We chose Lakeside Events Center, Bulawayo, for our wedding ceremony and reception because of the beautiful scenic view, the class of the venue, and its location. The wedding took place on December 7, 2024.

How did you meet? We always saw each other at our church, ZAOGA FIF, and we officially became friends in 2019. We then decided to upgrade our friendship in April 2022 and have been in love ever since. Our traditional lobola ceremony was on 27 April 2024.

Did you face any challenges preparing for the wedding? It wasn’t an easy route, but we managed to conquer because of the great support we received from our families, friends, and colleagues.

Wedding colours: We chose burgundy, gold, and dusty pink.

The bridal team: The bridal team consisted of 11 gentlemen and 14 boys, and 11 ladies and 14 girls, with Desire Mukonomuwi as the best man and Ruramai Chidanhika as the best girl.

The cake: The cake was a six-tier gold and white fruit cake baked by Mrs Shumba.

My favourite part of the wedding: My favourite part was when we had our slow dance covered by fog. It was a magical moment and meant a lot to us.

The most touching moment: The most touching moment was when my father handed me over to my husband. It was very emotional, and I fought hard to hold back my tears.

The most touching speech: The most touching speech was from the twin sisters, Moira & Moreen Msekiwa. They assured me that their brother truly loves me and that they welcomed me as their new sister.

What was on the menu? The main meal comprised savoury rice, white rice, and pap. Honey-glazed chicken and beef stew were served with creamed spinach and mixed vegetables. The salads were coleslaw, pasta salad, and beetroot, followed by ice cream for dessert.
