A 50-year-old Bulawayo man was strangled to death with a seat belt by a man he had offered a lift on Tuesday.
Albert Tshuma was in the company of his son (age not given) when the incident occurred along Randum Road in Upper Rangemore.
They were travelling in a Honda CVR.
Investigations revealed that Tshuma offered a lift to the unidentified assailant who then produced a pistol and ordered him to follow an unregistered BMW vehicle that was in front of him.
After Tshumaโs vehicle ran out of fuel, the assailant strangled him with a seat belt and then drove off in the BMW.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
โThe ZRP is investigating a case of murder that occurred along Randun Road, Upper Rangemore in Bulawayo on January 21. Albert Tshuma died in the incident.
โThe victim and his son were travelling in a Honda CRV. They offered a lift to an unknown male suspect before he produced a firearm and instructed them to follow an unregistered BMW that was in front of them.
โThe suspect strangled the victim with a seat belt after his vehicle had run out of fuel and he drove off in a BMW vehicle. The victimโs body was conveyed to Bulawayo Hospital for post-mortem. Anyone with information can report at the nearest police station,โ he said.
