The Civil Registry Department has announced a significant change to the validity period of Temporary Travel Documents (TTDs), effective November 14, 2024.
In a statement, the department said TTDs will now be valid for one month only, instead of six months.
“The TTDs will be restricted to single-entry into the specific country where the applicant intends to visit,” said the Civil Registry Department in a statement.
The department emphasised that TTDs serve as a temporary solution for citizens who need to travel urgently but do not have the time or resources to apply for a passport.
The department encouraged members of the public to apply for passports on time to ensure a smooth travel experience.
“We urge citizens to plan and apply for passports well in advance of their travel dates to avoid inconveniences,” said the department.
The revised validity period for TTDs is expected to streamline the application process and reduce the risk of fraudulent activities, said the department.
