Highway robbers arrested

Three suspected robbers that were targeting motorists along the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway have been arrested.
The trio – Vision Bvudzijena (27), Gladman Zhou (26) and Crispen Komboni (35) – would pounce on motorists whose cars would have developed mechanical faults and tyre bursts.
Criminal Investigations Department (CID) spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri confirmed the arrests.
“From August 2024 to January 8, 2025, the suspects were on a robbing spree along the Beitbridge – Masvingo Road, targeting motorists.
“In one of the cases that occurred on January 8 at around 2.30 am, they pounced on the complainants whose motor vehicle’s tyre had burst. They stabbed two of the complainants with an okapi knife and robbed them of cash and other valuables. They drove the complainant’s motor vehicle for about four kilometres before dumping it,” she said.
Five blankets, a sack of sunhats, plenty of clothes, some fertiliser and truck wheels have since been recovered among other valuables.
The trio appeared before the Mwenezi Magistrates Court on January 10 and were remanded in custody to January 23.
The police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect -Derldreneds Davison Siyafa Moyo.
