ZIMBABWE international, and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga says he was delighted to be named Man of the match when they edged Stellenbosch 1-0 in a South African  Premier Soccer League match played on Wednesday.

Lunga has been finding his way back into the fold and making his presence felt through outstanding performances this season after he spending last season virtually on the sidelines.

Lunga’s outstanding performance in the game earned him the Man of the Match award, much to his delight and that of his team’s supporters.

Mamelodi Sundowns are currently the log leaders with 24 points, closely followed by Orlando Pirates who are on 21 points after match day 11 but Mamelodi Sundowns have two games in hand.

“We knew when we were coming to this game that they knocked us out of the MTN tournament,” said Lunga.

“And when we prepared, we were saying these guys can’t beat us three times so let’s go hard on them and try collect maximum points.”

He added: “We have to fight put our A game and put our efforts to keep our standards. It was a tough game but I am happy to walk away with three points in an away game and named Man of the match.

Lunga added that remaining calm as a team gave them the edge to collect maximum points.

“Every moment of the game is important we have to focus to make sure we remain on top of the game and remain performing well.

“So we have to remain calm managing our performances and try stay on top of our game.”
