COMMUNITIES in Mhondoro-Ngezi, Chegutu, Chakari and Kadoma and Sanyati are set for exciting times in terms of radio connectivity as Zimpapers’ Platinum FM is now covering all these areas.
The new transmitter is 96.8FM.
Platinum FM Station manager, Davies Mugadza, told H-Metro the radio station now covers the entire Mashonaland West province, connecting the region’s diverse culture and communities.
“Our expanded reach into mining areas like Mhondoro-Ngezi, Chegutu, Kadoma and Sanyati is a game-changer.
“We’re grateful to Zimpapers management, stakeholders, audiences and advertisers for their support.
“As the province’s premier radio station, we’re proud to showcase its rich agricultural, mining and tourism heritage.
“With three teams in the Premier League − MWOS, Ngezi Platinum and ZPC Kariba − we’re excited to bring the excitement of local sport to our listeners.”
Mugadza thanked all listeners for tuning into Platinum FM, the heartbeat of Mashonaland West.
Mugadza said the radio station started off as Nyaminyami FM in 2017 and then expanded to Hurungwe district in 2020.
“In 2022, we were given an expansion licence for the whole province by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe.
“So, we were given Chinhoyi and we rebranded from Nyaminyami to Platinum FM and we relocated to the provincial capital but we are still present in Kariba, Hurungwe and Makonde district which covers Chinhoyi, Mhangura, and surrounding areas.
“In Kariba we are on 94.5fm, Hurungwe 103.4fm, Makonde district 102.3fm, and then Mhondoro − Ngezi, Chegutu, and Sanyati which covers Kadoma, are 96.8FM.
“So listeners in the new districts should look forward to entertainment, current affairs, comedy, dramas etc on Platinum FM and we broadcast 24 hours a day.
“Our mandate is to connect our province within and beyond.”
A villager from Mhondoro, Matambu Sungwe, told H- Metro that he was excited to have the radio station now broadcasting to his area.
“I am absolutely thrilled and excited that we now have a radio station broadcasting in our area.
“Being connected to this provincial radio station will give us an opportunity to understand what is happening throughout the Mashonaland West province,” he said.
Gift Jemwa, from Ngezi, said he was happy that he will get local sports news, especially about football, from a radio which broadcasts to his community and serves his province.
“We have been yearning for this connectivity for a long time and now we are happy that we have Platinum FM on our doorsteps,” said Jemwa.
He thanked the Government for decentralising radio stations across all parts of the country.
