Two suspected armed robbers were over the weekend apprehended by the public after robbing a family of US$400, R1 050 and four cellphones in Mufakose, Harare.
The two who were part of a four men gang that had raided the house, were apprehended after one of the complainants shouted for help.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The ZRP confirms the arrest of Vincent Tabvirakare aged 41 and Peter Munyaradzi Runganga aged 35 in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at a house in Mufakose, Harare on January 12, 2025 in which US$400, R1 050 cash and four cellphones were stolen.
“The suspects were apprehended by members of the public after the complainants shouted for help whilst the robbery was in progress.”
Meanwhile, police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of two other suspects only identified as Zindoga and Gumbura in connection with the same case.
The incident comes as police in Harare are also investigating a case of murder which occurred along Gunguwo Street in Budiriro, Harare on January 10, 2025 at around 3am in which a victim only identified as Honest died.
Honest was apprehended by a mob on allegations of unlawful entry into a house. The mob assaulted Honest using wooden logs indiscriminately and left him for dead. He succumbed to the injuries.
