Two cops arrested over US$90 bribe

Two junior police officers have been arrested on allegations of soliciting a US$90 bribe from a motorist in Mutare.
The two, Sergeant Chiponda Dudzai Jennifer and Constable Mutsago Glynislynn, all from Mutare, will appear in court on Wednesday on allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe from a motorist.
The officers allegedly demanded the bribe to facilitate the release the motorist’s vehicle. The motorist reported the incident to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), and a trap was set and the duo was arrested after accepting US$20.
They will appear at the Mutare Magistrate Court to answer charges of Bribery as defined in the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
