Two minors drown in abandoned chrome mine pit

Midlands Bureau
Two siblings aged 11 and nine drowned in an abandoned open chrome mine pit in Ngwaro Village, Zvishavane, on Saturday.
The police have confirmed the sad development.
Local traditional leader, Chief Mapanzure said the tragic incident occurred when the mother of the two minors was away in jail after she was convicted of kidnapping charges.
“It is a sad incident. We have always urged miners to prioritise land reclamation but they defy us and continue to leave huge and dangerous open pits,” he said.
